Infectious Disease

What to do if you think you have caught an infectious disease

Infectious disease may be defined as any organism giving rise to adverse detrimental symptoms in the human body. This may include a variety of organisms such as bacteria, protozoa, parasites and viruses. Common symptoms may include but is certainly not limited to nausea, diarrhea, headaches, lethargy and fever.

The role of the Shire of Manjimup is to investigate and identify sources of infectious disease outbreak to ensure that it is not spread throughout the community.

If you suspect you have an infectious disease please do not hesitate to visit your local doctor immediately. If testing shows that you have an infectious disease the Shire of Manjimup will be notified via the Department of Health and an investigation can be completed. You will be contacted by an Environmental Health Officer who will need to ask of you a range of questions that include those in relation to your whereabouts and what you consumed in the week prior to becoming ill. Any information is treated as confidential and is purely for research purposes only.
