Council Waste Collection Service

Council provides a weekly domestic waste collection service to householders in designated areas in Manjimup, Deanmill, Pemberton, Palgarup, Northcliffe and Quinninup. There is no service provided to the residents of Walpole.

A private contractor, Warren Blackwood Waste Disposals, currently provides the collection service in the Shire of Manjimup on behalf of Council.

Domestic Pickup Service

The domestic collection service consists of the provision and collection of a 240 or 140 litre green Sulo bin.

Damaged or Stolen Bins

The contractor replaces stolen or damaged bins. In the case of bins damaged by being burnt or otherwise damaged by householders, the Contractor shall be entitled to charge such householder the cost of providing a replacement bin.

Contents of your Bin

Please be aware that the bins are provided for the collection of domestic waste only.

The contractor does not have to pick up bins that are:

• Overweight. Bins weighing more that 70kgs will not be collected and it will then be the responsibility of the resident to either reduce the weight for the next collection or otherwise lawfully dispose of the waste therein.
• In excess of capacity of either 140 or 240 litres i.e. bins that have articles protruding that could hinder the lifting mechanism of the pickup vehicle.
• Bins that have items jammed in such a manner that the contents will not empty with the normal tipping procedure i.e. cardboard boxes and green waste.
• Bins that contain other than domestic waste, i.e. building and construction waste, green waste and scrap metal.

What the Contractor will not do

• Pickup any rubbish not in the bin i.e. rubbish stacked on or around the bin. The contractor will however pick up any rubbish spilt during a normal pickup.
• Pick up any waste in receptacles not provided by the collection service.
• Put hands inside bins to remove jammed items.

Collection Times

The Contractor tries to ensure that domestic waste is collected between the hours of 6.00am and 5.00pm on a working day and from week to week the time of collection from each street should be reasonably consistent.

Bins not Collected

If your bin isn't collected please check that it isn't too heavy, jammed or has items sticking out or on top of the bin. If that isn't the case please phone the contractor on Mobile 0427 771 025 or Council on 9771 7777.

Commercial Waste Collection Service

There is a commercial waste pickup service provided to businesses in designated areas in the town sites of Manjimup and Pemberton. A number of service options are available; the minimum for which is the weekly collection of one (1) 240 litre Sulo bin.

Other options are:

• A 1.6 litre steel rear-loading bin. The minimum pickup frequency for this is once weekly.
• Additional pickups can be arranged.
• Pickups of private bins of suitable design

Bin Contents

Bins are supplied to collect general business waste, such as food scraps and packaging, not construction and demolition waste or green waste.

The contractors will not pick up any rubbish stacked around or on bins.
