Youth Services & Youth Activities within the Shire of Manjimup

The Shire of Manjimup believes that young people are one of the community’s greatest assets.  Community Services team, are committed to ensuring that the voice of all young people within the Shire is heard.  It is essential that any decisions that are made within the Manjimup Shire include the needs and opinions of young people.

The Shire provides a range of programs and activities for both individuals and groups to address the needs of young people in our district.  We do this by speaking regularly to young people and the community, facilitating the Youth Advisory Council (InvolveYOUTH2) and by working closely with other agencies.

Programs & Activities

Each school holiday’s the various youth workers & youth clubs from each of our towns, develop a program of activities for young people between the ages of 11-17 to participate in.  Throughout each school term, our Youth Development Officer (YDO) works with each of our town’s youth workers and other people involved in the community to bring a range of activities and services to young people within the Manjimup Shire.

Youth Advisory Council – “InvolveYOUTH2”

Our YDO and various youth clubs from each of our towns, assist the Youth Advisory Council (InvolveYOUTH2) to work together to create opportunities for young people to be involved in their community, develop skills and work towards developing a more thriving youth culture within our Shire region.

Various youth groups run workshops, youth events, camps, and develop programs aimed at health, entertainment, sport, recreation, art and culture.  If you have an idea for a program or workshop that you would like to see in your local area, call us, we'd love to hear from you.

Youth Workers

The Shire has one full-time Youth Development Officer and financially assists several other part-time youth workers throughout our Shire district, all of whom continue to support our communities young people between the ages of 11 - 18 years.

We also highly value and support, wherever we can, the work of both the Youth Outreach Program (YOP) and Mission Australia (Youth Pathways Program) and their case workers.  These mentors are highly mobile and can arrange to talk with youth and support young people on anything from family problems, difficulties at school, relationships, feeling down, alcohol and other drug issues, accommodation, education, training and employment, income support or even legal issues.

See below (attached) for a list of some of the youth workers who are also employed for individual projects and general youth programs operating in each of our towns:
