The Shire of Manjimup has a council which sets the policy directions and staff who carry out the decisions of the council. The number of elected members is currently 11. The Manjimup Shire Council is led by a shire president, who is elected by Council at the first Council meeting following a local government election.

Members of Council
Elected members are voted into their position by residents and non-resident ratepayers in the local government district who are at least 18 years of age. Terms of office are generally for a four-year period, with half the total number of council positions becoming vacant every two years.  Nominations for the 2009 elections closed on 10 September 2009.  For information on standing for Council at the next election (October 2011), see "Standing for Council".
Please note that the most recent local government elections was held on Saturday 17 October 2009 (see "2009 Local Government Elections").  The next ordinary election will be held in October 2011.

Extraordinary Election
Councillor Rouse resigned effective Fri 20 Nov 2009 to relocate back to Perth.  An extraordinary election will be held on Saturday 13 March 2010 to fill the Central Ward vacancy.

Enrolment
The State Electoral Roll and the Shire of Manjimup's Non-Residential Roll closed on 28 Aug 2009 for the 2009 Local Government Elections.  However, you can still apply to vote in future elections (see "Enrolling to Vote").
