School holiday program a real circus!
Last week more than 60 young people aged 8 - 15 years from Manjimup and surrounding towns (including fifteen from Walpole) participated in “Suitcase Circus” with Jo Bolton and his offsider Kylie at the Shire of Manjimup school holiday program at the Manjimup Indoor Sports Stadium.
Funded by the Department for Communities School Holiday Program and the Shire of Manjimup, the circus skills workshops were a great hit with all participants enjoying the antics of internationally renowned circus entertainer Jo Bolton.
Children learnt the art of the Diablo, stilt walking, hula hoop, juggling, unicycle and building a human pyramid which entailed some focus, although there was plenty of fun in the practicing stages. At the completion of the workshops, they used their new circus skills to perform for family and friends.
The Shire of Manjimup Holiday Activity Coordinator Kathleen Bell said “the activities were well attended with all participants seeing circus as a fun way of learning new skills and meeting new friends”.
