Council Elections

The 2017 Local Government Elections are on Saturday, 21 October 2017. The Western Australian Electoral Commission is conducting the election via a postal vote on behalf of the Shire of Manjimup.

The Shire of Manjimup has historically run in person elections, however in an effort to improve voter participation, the Election will be conducted via postal votes. This also gives people with mobility issues the opportunity to receive the Candidate profiles and ballot paper in their own home and arrange for it's delivery. Find out more about postal voting in our FAQs.

Ward Representation

Your Councillors are elected by the community via the Local Government Elections. Elections are held every 2 years on the third Saturday of October. Councillors serve a 4 year term, thus at each ordinary election, approximately half of the eleven positions are up for election. This also means that for wards with only 1 elected member, ordinary elections only happen once every 4 years.

Each Councillor is elected to represent a ward in the district. The Shire of Manjimup is divided into 6 wards with the following division of labour;
