The Shire of Manjimup is developing a 10 Year Strategic Community Plan.
The first part of this process is to identify the vision and aspirations of the community.
The second part will be to embed these visions and aspirations within a blueprint for the Community's future; this will become the Strategic Community Plan.
Dream Big. Have your say. Be heard.
Play your part in building your community's future.
WHAT IS A STRATEGIC COMMUNITY PLAN?
The Strategic Community Plan is a corporate document that is required under the Local government Act with two main Objectives:
- To involve the community in the establishment of a long term vision for the Local Government through the idenification of strategic priorities and aspirations.
- To provide the Local Government with a clear understanding of the community's priorities over a longer time frame (social, economic, environmental and civic leadership) and to understand long term impacts based on research that will translate to service, asset and land use planning requirements.
Under the Act, all Local Governments in Western Australia need to develop and complement an Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework consisting of a Strategic community, Plan, corporate Business Plan and supporting documents including a Long Term Financial Plan, Assset Management Plans and Workforce Plans, which will be completed by June 2013.
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT TO THE PLAN FOR THE FUTURE?
The Plan for the Future will be replaced by the Strategic Community Plan.
HOW WILL THE STRATEGIC COMMUNITY PLAN AFFECT US?
The Strategic Community Plan will contain details of how you, as members of the community, see the Shire developing over the next 10 years. It will shape and define the future of the Shire of Manjimup.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
The Shire has developed a survey and invites you to get involved by completing it in one of two ways:
- online via through this link
- via hard copy from either Council's administration office or a Shire Library, returning it in the provided stamped, addressed envelope.
In addition, the Shire has engaged experienced consultants from Cardno to host a number of community consultation workshops over the next few weeks.
The 2 hour workshops will start with a briefing by the Shire, telling you more about the Strategic Community Plan, the consultation process and how your feedback will be used. Our consultants will then guide a structured but relaxed and fun process through which it is hoped you share your visions and aspirations for the future of the Shire.
Workshops will be held at:
