Meet our CEO
Andrew Campbell's journey with the Shire of Manjimup started in January 1993 as an Environmental Health Officer and he quickly gained experience and knowledge to allow progression through the organisation by taking on more responsibility as Principal Environmental Health Officer in 1994 before entering middle management as Manager of Environmental Services in 1999, senior management as Director of Statutory Services in 2007 and Chief Executive Officer in 2014.
Graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) from Curtin University, Andrew also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of New England that was completed in 2009. Andrew completed the AICD Company Directors Course to strengthen knowledge around Local Government and Not for Profit best practice governance.
Andrew has a passion for economic development in local and regional communities and has been the driving force behind the strategy, funding and delivery of the Shire of Manjimup's $32M Revitalisation of Manjimup's Town Centre Project that has already realised millions of dollars of private investment and hundreds of jobs to the Manjimup community. The Shire of Manjimup was awarded the National Economic Development Award for Economic Development Initiatives in 2017 for Stage 1 of the project, with Stage 2 to be fully delivered by the end of 2019. Andrew has also been part of WALGA's Economic Development Industry Reference Group and sits on WALGA's Economic Development Policy Forum Group.
Andrew was recognised for his outstanding CEO leadership during the 2015 O'Sullivan Bushfire that burnt 98,000Ha of land and significantly threatened the Shire of Manjimup communities of Northcliffe, Walpole, Pemberton and Quinninup. Standing alongside numerous State and volunteer agencies, Andrew tasked and guided his team through two weeks of response and twelve months of recovery for impacted communities whilst still maintaining a "business as usual" approach for his organisation. Andrew has delivered presentations, facilitated many discussions and provided experienced personnel to assist others to cope with emergency situations based on an experience that is still regarded as one of the largest but best managed interagency collaboration for a bushfire emergency event that has ever occurred in Western Australia.
To this point in time, Andrew has provided 26.5 years of continuous service to the Shire of Manjimup.
