Nominations Open for Citizenship Awards

​Nominations for the 2019 Australia Day citizenship awards are now open. The awards will be presented at the Shire of Manjimup's official Australia Day ceremony, taking place in Pemberton on Saturday, 26 January 2019.

The awards are designed to recognise community members for the contribution they make in their communities. The four award categories are as follows:

  • Citizen of the year (overall winner)
  • Citizen of the year– youth under 25 years of age
  • Citizen of the year – senior over 65 years of age
  • Award for active citizenship – community group or event

Recipients are selected from people and groups who have made a noteworthy contribution during 2018, or have given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

"We all know someone who is an outstanding citizen," said Shire President Paul Omodei, "think about the myriad of locals out there volunteering in some capacity, keeping our sporting and recreational clubs alive, providing exceptional services or organising events big or small."

"These nominations come from the community and everybody who is nominated will be recognised at the Australia Day Ceremony, with award winners selected from all of the nominees for each category" explained Cr Omodei.

Nominations can be completed online here or written nomination forms can be downloaded​ or are available from the Shire's Administration Office and Public Libraries. 

Nominations close Wednesday 31 October 2018.

"The nomination process is simple, quick and easy, so please make the effort to give those people the thanks that they truly deserve, and hopefully this will encourage them to continue their good work in the community and inspire others to do the same," said Cr Omodei.
