The Shire of Manjimup
recently approved design artwork for the painting of seven bins with a native
flora theme within the Northcliffe town
centre.
Painting of the bins will begin over the Easter holidays.
Four artists
from the Southern Forests and Valleys region have been commissioned by
Southern Forest Arts to undertake this public art initiative: Tara Brooks
(Manjimup), Alicia Rogerson (Bridgetown), Liz Edmunds (Walpole) and Amara
Sinclair-Hill (Northcliffe).
Each bin will celebrate a different plant species
endemic to the region that is currently endangered or vulnerable to future
threat.
The project has been funded by the Shire of Manjimup, Northcliffe
Community Development Group, Regional Arts WA, the State Government of WA and
Southern Forest Arts.
All painting are expected to
be completed by end of June 2021. For more info visit the Southern
Forest Arts website https://southernforestarts.com.au/
