Graphite Road upgrade works – slk 1.12 to slk 1.52
The Shire of Manjimup has a long‑term project to upgrade the full length of Graphite Road. As part of this ongoing program, The Shire will be undertaking construction works to upgrade the next section of Graphite Road from SLK 1.12 to SLK 1.52 near Arnott Street, including associated works at nearby intersections and access roads.
The objective of this project is to improve road safety and overall infrastructure standards within the area.
Areas that are also affected:
- Approximately 10 metres of Arnott Street (north and south)
- Approximately 10 metres of Finch Street
- Construction of a left‑turning lane; and approximately 10 metres of the TAFE access road near Manjimup TAFE and the Manjimup Senior High School.
The scope of works includes:
- Traffic management
- Identification and protection of underground and overhead services
- Stripping of topsoil, grasses, and small shrubs
- Removal of the existing pavement
- Construction of the northern shoulder
- Culvert lengthening works
- Construction of a new road pavement
- Paving of a new asphalt surface
- Installation of new semi‑mountable kerb; and
- Reinstatement of signage and line marking.
Works are expected to commence in late April 2026 and are estimated to run for a period of 6 weeks. Subject to weather conditions and contractor availability, the project will proceed in stages to minimise disruption.
During construction, every effort will be made to maintain access to properties and to minimise inconvenience to road users and nearby residents. However, due to the nature of these works, there may be temporary changes to traffic conditions and occasional access restrictions.
Workers will be operating earthmoving machinery and trucks, which may present a hazard to members of the public. Residents are therefore requested to ensure they, and their children, remain clear of construction areas, plant, and machinery at all times.
Intended working hours are 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. Any weekend work will be subject to Shire approval. The Shire thanks you for your understanding and cooperation during these essential works.
