The Hooded Plover is a small, resident Australian shorebird listed as Vulnerable nationally under the EPBC Act. The adult birds and chicks face high risks from beach recreation, off-leash dogs, and introduced predators. Hooded Plover nest in coastal areas and can been observed seasonally at Windy Harbour. The nests are usually well camouflaged in the primary dune, often in the location vehicles prefer to drive.
