The Shire of Manjimup’s population is ageing, reflecting not just a state-wide but world-wide trend. This change in the Shire’s demographic may mean changes in future service delivery to maximize opportunities for residents to maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life as they age.
The Shire has pro-actively acknowledged that seniors represent a significant and growing sector of the community. Extensive consultation was undertaken to develop the Shire of Manjimup Age-Friendly Communities Plan 2016-2021, which provides recommendations to meet the diversifying needs of the ageing population.
There are a large number of organisations and community groups that provide services and programs to seniors. You can find out about them at www.myagedcare.gov.au or check out our Manjimup Home and Community Care (MHCC) page.
