2025
Stitched and Bound - March to April
Stitched and Bound is a biennial, juried contemporary quilting exhibition presented by the West Australian Quilters Association and featuring works by Western Australian artists that challenge conventional quilting.
The artwork to the left is titled Lake Ballard by Barbara Weeks.
Art for Peace Exhibition - May to June
Promoting world harmony, hope and friendship, artist, Sri Chinmoy’s work often featured bird motifs. He drew some 16 million “soul birds” during his life because:
“The bird knows no boundaries. It is a messenger of peace and freedom, born in the garden of the soul and taking flight in the heart.”
This Peace exhibition invites viewers to pause, reflect and find solace in the simple beauty that persists in the world, even amidst turmoil.
Blak/White Story - July to August
Blak/White Story is a recorded oral presentation featuring images by Christine Latham, Badimia/Yamatji Visual Storyteller and Artist. Christine commences Blak/White Story with images of her artwork and photos to convey the sense of knowing but not knowing experienced in her youth; the period prior to discovering her indigenous ancestry at age 35. She reveals subsequent consequences, experiences and solutions she embraced following that discovery.

Wonderful Wildflowers - Manjimup Photo Club - 4 to 31 October
The Manjimup Photo Club is taking a break from photographing fantastic fungi to focus on another natural beauty of the South West area – its stunning array of wildflowers.2025 will see the inaugural Wonderful Wildflowers Photographic Competition.
Independent judges will select the best 35 photos which will be featured in an exhibition at the Manjimup Art Gallery.

Master Pieces - November to December
In recent years, Marjan Bakhtiarikish and Ron Baker have collaborated to initiate a renaissance in classical art in Western Australia.
In the fine art tradition of the Old Masters, Marjan and Ron, use oils to create exquisite life portraits, still life scenes, landscapes and more that conjure memories of visits to major art galleries and institutes in Europe.

Live charcoal sketch - November
As part of the Master Pieces Classical Art Exhibition (8 November – 15 December), renowned artist Marjan Bakhtiarikish demonstrated the timeless art of portraiture by creating a live charcoal sketch of a local model. Don’t miss this inspiring session, offering a rare glimpse into Marjan’s exceptional skill and the creative process behind classical portraiture.
2024
Contours: Aerial Impressions of a Complex Landscape - February to March
For almost 60 years, Richard Woldendorp used aerial photography to create stunning abstract art pieces inspired by Australia’s unique landscape.
Long before the advent of drones and digital cameras, he photographed Australia’s wild and varied terrain in commercial jets and smaller aircraft to capture its distinctly unique characteristics. His work revealed breathtaking views of the Australian landscape from the air.
Reflections - April to May
For Gwen Jefferyes, painting has always been a form of creative therapy, an opportunity to step back from a full and busy life as a spouse and mother, to take a breath and capture the beauty of the environment that surrounds her.
Now in her 90’s, Gwen continues to create. Her familiarity with and appreciation for places close to her heart are beautifully represented in small, exquisite artworks that capture moments of quiet tranquility.
Fantastic Fungi Exhibition - August to September
The Fantastic Fungi photographic exhibition is a collaboration between the Manjimup Photo Club and the Manjimup Art Gallery. Wetter months provide photographers with the opportunity to wander through our local forests and other natural landscapes to view and photograph a wide variety of fungi magically appearing in soil, litter, logs and trees.
Walking Through a Songline - September to November
Walking through a Songline is digital experience developed with guidance from cultural custodians and artists from the central and Western Desert regions. Visitors make their way through projections that show, in an artistic and striking way, a songline that follows the tracks of the Seven Sisters Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) across the Western and Central deserts of Australia, as they are chased by a male pursuer.
Now and Then - November to December
Now and Then is a retrospective of one of the area’s artists, Anna Czerkasow. At times, Anna’s work as an art teacher, mentor and mainstay of the Pemberton Arts Group has obscured her own practice as an artist. Now and Then remedies this by showcasing her work over a three decade artistic career. This work traces Anna’s creative progression through a range of styles, media and subjects and clearly demonstrates that her passion for creating and experimenting has never wavered.
Koondarm Wangkiny: Dream telling - June to July
Bunbury-based, Megan Corby, is a self-taught, contemporary Noongar artist. Megan’s work is a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements resulting in works that provide a sense of peace and harmony. Her colour palette is influenced by Australia’s beautiful landscape and coastline. Language Group: Wadandi.
Graham ‘Swag’ Taylor is an established Perth-based, Noongar artist. He grew up around the Kellerberrin area and developed a love of the bush. Its birds, animals, colours and textures are often reflected in his work. Swag’s art style is reminiscent of the Carrolup school of the South West of WA. Language Group: Balladong/Wadjuk/Yamatji.
2023
Peregrinations of a Citizen Botanist - February to March
Peregrinations of a Citizen Botanistis an immersive and finely crafted installation by Susie Vickery which takes the form of a cabinet of curiosities, charting the journey of the 18th Century French botanist Jacques-Julien Houtou de Labillardière. Vickery presents an alternative history of Labillardière’s journey, with the botanist gradually shedding his European preconceptions as he encounters a rich and ancient land.
Moments Made in Italy - 4 March to 22 April
Moments Made in Italy highlights the vivacity of everyday scenes of Italian life. Across all seasons daily activities like zooming around on a vespa, making way for elegant Nonna’s hauling their groceries home or enjoying a relaxed prosecco at the local bar are beautifully reflected in Silvia Busetto’s effervescent watercolours.
Her images entice viewers to enter the scene and get to know the locals.

The Noongar Seasons: Nature in Transition Exhibition: May to June
Artworks submitted as part of the Noongar Seasons: Nature in Transition Art Competition will be featured in this exhibition. The works, by 18 Artists, will depict the six Noongar Seasons – Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang - as evidenced in the Karri Karrak area of the Noongar Nation.
Fantastic Fungi exhibition: July / August
The 2023 Fantastic Fungi exhibition features finalists in the Open, High School and Primary School classes of the Manjimup Photo Club’s Fungi Competition.The exhibition includes many types of fungi found locally and in Australia and all distinguished by their unique and unusual structural and physiological features. The photo to the left is titled Ridge-stemmed bolete by Windy Gibb (Winner, 2022 Open Class).
Stepping into the Spotlight - October
Is it possible to fully know another person?
When we see a stranger, does their way of moving, speaking, dressing and interacting allow us to understand them as a whole person or only know them for an instant? Everyone is shaped by relationships with self and others Manjimup Senior High School Year 11 and 12 art students will provide a visual representation of locals who have effected positive change in the area or demonstrated strength of spirit in times of adversity.
This exhibition explores themes around identity and interpersonal relationships through contemporary portraiture.
2022
Introducing - January
Although only in its third year, the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Art Award is already reaping benefits for artists and art lovers alike. Already, the Award has unearthed two outstanding young artists.
The artwork to the left is titled The stories we share by Lily Gibbs-Hughes.
Introducing…. features the works of 2019 Young Artist Award winner, Lily Gibbs Hughes and 2020 Young Artist Award winner, Ebony Barnes. The exhibition will include their winning paintings together with a range of new works that highlight the depth of their emerging talent.

Wild Inspiration - March to April
Palgarup landscape and wildlife artist, Barbara Maumill, draws on her local environment for inspiration to present a stunning new body of work, entitled wild inspiration. The area's exquisite variety of flora and fauna are her muse. Barbara captures both their spirit and appearance in her beautifully detailed work. The artwork to the left is titled A New Day by Barbara Maumill.
Depth of Field: Exploring Minds, Hearts & Voice Exhibition - 4 - 24 June
The Depth of Field: Exploring Minds, Hearts & Voice exhibition is a series of powerful visual portraits by photographer, Steve Wise and health humanities researcher, A/Professor Gabrielle Brand.
Co-produced with six Western Australian mental health consumers and their families, it recounts the honest and raw reality of living and recovering from mental health issues.
Fantastic Fungi - 5 August to 3 September
The 2022 Fantastic Fungi exhibition will feature finalists in the Open, High School and Primary School classes of the Manjimup Photo Club’s Fungi Competition.The exhibition will include many types of fungi found locally and in Australia. It will showcase images captured by gifted amateurs of an extensive variety of these extraordinary organisms.
Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Art Award Exhibition - 19 November to 13 December
The Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Art Award entries opened on 1 October 2022. This year’s theme is “What would you paint on your limb prosthesis?”

2021
North and South - February to March
Often described as a combination of art and science, botanical art records in exquisite detail the form, texture, colour, habitat and life cycles of flowers and plants with artistic affect. North and South highlights the outstanding creative talent of five botanical artists. The exhibition features a selection of contemporary works by Katrina Syme, Pat Dundas, Hilary Mayger and Gail Doust Keirle. The exhibition also celebrates the work of other botanical artists and illustrators. Among these are Emily Pelloe, who authored a number of books on the flowering plants of WA, and Marianne North, who with, single-minded independence travelled to the South West in the 1880’s to paint flora in the area including a Karri tree on the Old Vasse Road that still bears her name. The artwork to the left is titled Santalum acuminatum - Quandong.
Friends Old and New - 14 May to 19 June
Friends Old and New features the original Manjimup Art Prize work of seven artists exhibited alongside one of their more contemporary works.The Art Prize (staged from 1967 until 1984) presented the work of artists at various points in their career and played a small part in their artistic journey. The artwork to the left is titled Majestic Karri by Lindsay Pow.
Noongar Art Exchange - Celebrating Connections to Culture and Country - July to August
20 stunning artworks by Wardandi Noongar Artists will be exhibited at the Manjimup Art Gallery to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2021. The paintings continue the tradition of visual storytelling of one of the oldest living cultures on earth. The artwork to the left is titled Rainbow Serpent by Liam Mayer.
Fantastic Fungi Exhibition - August to September
The Fantastic Fungi competition encourages the participation of photographers of all ages and includes an Open and a Youth Category. A selection of the photographs entered will be exhibited at the Manjimup Art Gallery in August/September.
