A new history and tourism sign has been installed recently in the Manjin Park precinct. Developed in close collaboration with the Shire’s Reconciliation Action Plan Advisory Committee, the sign offers a contemporary overview of Manjimup’s rich heritage and highlights the tourism experiences and products available throughout the area.
The sign was designed in conjunction with artists and graphic designers from The Myrtle Collective and was installed using existing infrastructure.
With its convenient location just off the South Western Highway, Manjin Park has become a popular stopping point for visitors to Manjimup. This made it an ideal site for sharing information about the town’s history and the diverse tourism experiences it offers.
Shire President Donelle Buegge, who also chairs the Shire’s Reconciliation Action Plan Advisory Committee, is pleased to see the new signage in place. “This project is a wonderful example of how we can celebrate our local history while also supporting our tourism industry. By working closely with the Advisory Committee, we’ve been able to create something that reflects the richness of Manjimup’s heritage and the vibrancy of our community. We hope visitors will not only stop to learn more about our story but also be inspired to explore the many experiences our region has to offer.”
As opportunities arise similar signage may be developed in other towns across the Shire, helping to create a consistent and welcoming visitor experience throughout the region.
