Committees, Advisory Groups and Reference Groups

The Shire of Manjimup values community input and uses a range of groups to support good decision-making. These allow members to share ideas and provide advice on local issues and strategic priorities.

The Shire has a range of committees, advisory groups and reference groups that operate in accordance with Council Policy 1.1.10 Committees, Advisory Groups and Reference Groups.

Committees
Committees are formal groups established under legislation, such as the Local Government Act 1995 and the Emergency Management Act 2005. They help Council by providing advice and recommendations.

The current committees of Council are:

  • Audit and Risk Advisory Committee
  • Bush Fire Advisory Committee
  • CEO Review Advisory Committee
  • Local Emergency Management Committee

District Community Advisory Groups
District Community Advisory Groups (DCAG) provide a forum for community input on strategic issues relevant to each district. They focus on community perspectives. There is one DCAG established for each town, Manjimup, Northcliffe, Pemberton and Walpole.

Reference Groups
Reference Groups are made up of community members and groups who provide advice to the CEO and Directors on specific topics or projects.

The Shire's current Reference Groups are:

  • Airfield Reference Group
  • Northcliffe Forest Park Reference Group
  • Access and Inclusion Reference Group
  • Reconciliation Action Plan Reference Group
  • Manjimup Heritage Park Reference Group
  • Rea Park and Collier Street Redevelopment Reference Group
