Shire of Manjimup Councillor Jenny Willcox has been recognised for her contribution to local government, receiving the Evelyn Parker Women of Excellence Award for Local Government elected members from the Australian Local Government Women’s Association Western Australia (ALGWA WA).
The award recognises women elected members who demonstrate outstanding leadership, community representation and a commitment to making a positive difference through local government.
Cr Willcox is a Rural Ward Councillor for the Shire of Manjimup and a longstanding advocate for the Walpole and wider Southern Forests community.
Her contribution extends well beyond her role on Council. Cr Willcox was instrumental in developing the Walpole Telecentre into the Walpole Community Resource Centre and has held leadership roles with the Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association, supporting digital literacy and inclusion for seniors.
Her extensive community service was recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours.
Shire President Donelle Buegge congratulated Cr Willcox on the recognition, saying Jenny’s dedication to her community and local government was truly deserving of the award.
“Jenny’s commitment to her community and to local government is extraordinary. She brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and genuine community spirit to Council, and this award is a wonderful recognition of the contribution she continues to make.”
Cr Willcox will be formally recognised at ALGWA WA’s 24th Anniversary Panellist Brunch in Perth on Wednesday 16 September, ahead of the annual WALGA Convention.
The Shire of Manjimup congratulates Cr Willcox on this well-deserved recognition of her ongoing service to local government and the community.
